If you haven’t heard of Swanfish before I’m going to put it down to you not being a mad-keen angler. Swanfish is a friendly annual fishing competition ran in conjunction with Recfishwest and Melville Amateur Angling Club. This year is the 27th time the event will occur with the headquarters being at McCallum Park off Taylor Street in Victoria Park.
The event is open to all anglers in Perth, you can easily register online to be a part of it but will still be required to attend the registration marquee at McCallum Park on Saturday the 21st of February between 9:30am – 5:00pm.
Once registered anglers can commence fishing and can do so through to 9:30am the following day being Sunday 22nd of February. At 9:30am on the Sunday anglers will have to weigh in with their catches. Anglers can fish anywhere in the Swan and Canning Rivers, upstream of the Old Fremantle Traffic Bridge as fishing in the harbour is not allowed.
If you’re a keen fisher or know someone who is then head here for more information, it’s great to see a variety of events happening within the area: http://www.swanfish.com.au/
